Dramatis Personae
The statistics of the non-player characters are given in
the Aurea format. The abbreviations have the following meaning:
STR=strength, DEX=dexterity, CON=constitution, PSP=physical speed,
SIZ=size, CML=comeliness, WILL=willpower, I=intelligence, MNT=mental
fitness, MSP=mental speed, LRN=learning, RSP=reaction speed,
SGH=sight, HEAR=hearing, TST=taste, SML=smell, TCH=touch,
INT=intuition.
It should be noted that in China the surname - here printed
in strong capitals - precedes the personal name.
Main Characters
- DEE Jen-djieh
- The magistrate of Kao-Yang a town district in Kiangsu Province.
Referred to as 'Judge Dee' or 'the Judge'
- HOONG Liang
- Judge Dee's trusted adviser and Sergeant of the tribunal. Referred
to as 'Sergeant Hoong' or 'the Sergeant'.
- MA Joong
- A reformed 'brother of the greed wood'; now a trusted lieutenant
of the Judge.
- CHIAO Tai
- A reformed 'brother of the green wood'; now a trusted lieutenant
of the Judge.
- TAO Gan
- A reformed gambler and trickster; now a trusted lieutenant of the
Judge.
