Valdyas is a fictional country in a fictional world. Ilaini is an invented language. I invented it for my own enjoyment and that of anybody else who enjoys it. It has no scholarly pretensions. Please don't make a fool of yourself by using my language pages for your linguistics case-work.
Brach The dragon
Brachei ryst gyrie, ni festinen chazat. Yatesh brach tay sorynat, sorinan gyrie custynat so pudie trudat. The strength of the dragon is in its tail, not in its teeth. Therefore, when the dragon hunts, it catches the prey with its tail and crushes it to death.
Tabrachena tay lea berat ni chala, ni bara, ni lhona naverayt. Inane beryes cronina fulayt alea datay arne soryna verayt. Tabrachea custyney an puray, reshien durien le nachalynay brach salne datay le nadenat. Brachi dursinin finean trasta naverayt. When baby dragons hatch they can't see, walk or fly. The parents bring food to the nest until they can hunt for themselves. If you want to catch a little dragon, hide in a bay tree until the adult dragon goes away. Dragons can't bear the scent of bay leaves.
Bracheni rych dobreth cul ruzen, grin alean namudhenan loch mudhat, nish alean lhadei lisen adodolys. The breath of dragons is hot like a fire, their blood cures many illnesses, their skin is the best kind of leather.

Notes

festin "teeth", the collective used for the whole set of teeth.

yatesh "therefore" from yat "this" and esh "from, because of, by"

pudie trudat "kills by means of a crush".

ni is the negation for everything except finite verbs, even for infinitives (as infinitives seem to have a very nominal flavour). Ni... ni... "neither... nor", which in Ilaini isn't restricted to only two items.

lea berat, impersonal construction "to hatch". The logical subject is expressed as a grammatical object.

inane "parents" is the dual of nane "mother". Even if both of your effective parents happen to be male, or you have more than two adults bringing you up, both of which do happen occasionally.

cronin, collective plural meaning "food" in general.

custyney an puray with the irrealis, "if you want that you catch". More informal would be custyna an puray with the infinitive.

ruzen specifically "a fire", not fire as the element, which is ruz.

lisen, "it-thing" meaning "kind, sort", with what it's a kind of in the genitive.

adodolys has the augmentative prefix "more ..." as well as the plural/generalising prefix to make it a superlative, "completely more X" - "X-est". Another way to express this is dolys rythe, "most good".
